Daddy goes AI
This is a first article of a personal style series about getting deeper into the World of AI. Personal means here I will use even the word “I”, to express my thoughts . This time the focus is rather on the human aspect. It does not mean that I do not share technical experiences as before, but that will be not a step-by-step documentation.
I learned AI at the University with some basic practical examples about ML, and implementing a coffee machine with tokens. All that is almost completely forgotten ! But at least I do not seem stupid when someone starts to talk about it .
Nowadays AI is a rapidly changing world. Evangelists, experts, thousands of overhyped posts, neverending list of tools, cloud services, APIs, integrations and solution components etc. Filtering information about the rapid evolution of AI is a real madness on the variety of platforms like LinkedIn, because humans made a jungle.
This is a revolution flowing into every area of technology work and life. It cannot be avoided and missed. Simply using it as a service without understanding it as a developer I would feel definitely frustrated. It is like doing ABAP coding without knowing what Netweaver is, what are work processes, what is garbage collector, that ABAP programs are compiled or what is SICF or RFC. I want to understand the basic building blocks and their role in AI.
So AI, yes, OK, but which tree to climb and which path to choose to reach the top, where I will be able to see something clearly out from the forest ?
As usual I defined the goal for myself. I have a vision, I want to realize it. What is the way to do it, this is what I need to investigate first. I will definitely run into dead ends, learning what is possible, what is not with the software tools in my hands.
Daddy goes AI
I am not an expert teacher in history, biology and literature. I am stuck answering such questions to my sons, when mom is unavailable. I would need to read or search their primary school books. It is not possible to spend hours to find the answer with corresponding context, what the teacher expects based on that school books and terminology. Unfortunately the curriculum in our country was so messed up for several ages. Instead of teaching primary school children on logical thinking, the focus is on lexical knowledge.
So I found the problem to solve. This is what will be the most important point in the future. Everyone will have access to AI tools, but the business goes to the ones having the eagle eye to find a problem to solve and sell the solution !
So here is my user story:
“As a father, I want to answer my sons’ school material related questions so that we do not fail at school”
So let’s see how we proceed from here
